When a feedlot installs a SCALE CAGE it's use should be of dual purpose. The scale should be centrally located so that trucks and cattle can be weighed on the hoof, (before entering the shipping yards) thus saving the lot about 1/2 % of shrink or quite possibly more depending of the efficiency of your shipping facilities. Also the scale should be easily accessible to trucks (with doubles) and wide enough (14' wide) to weigh hay. Since the scale has a cage on it a driver could not even exit his truck if the scale was 10' wide. Our scale cages are made exclusively of 2 7/8" oilfield pipe, our cages are not tied over the top. The interference of wind and tall loads of hay won't be a problem. |
